Melburnians are now being asked to wear masks

Wearing a mask or not has been a heavily debated topic. The advice has not changed. Wearing a mask forms part of the 3 parts approach in fighting COVID19:

– Physical distancing – stay at home unless you absolutely need to go outside
– Washing hands and not to touch your face
– Wearing a mask properly if you are symptomatic or in high risks areas and definitely in crowded places. Don’t touch it or play with it and learn how to properly dispose them (see below).

We have gathered some useful resources here for you.

1.) This site we posted before which was written by 3 very smart GPs in Gold Coast, explaining in details about everything you need to know about masks. It is being updated regularly and last update was 2 days ago:

2.) If you want to make you own masks, here is the official DHHS instruction: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/202007/Design%20and%20preparation%20of%20cloth%20mask_0.pdf

3.) Wearing a mask produces certain degree of social phobia and isolation. The stigma of it affects deep in our fabric of society. This is an extraordinary time of our lives, dont forget to be kind and be respectful to each other. Some may still find it hard to accept either side of the argument. Let’s have some grace and patience, we are in this together.
